"What you feel when you look at my photographs is much more important to me than what you see."
Hi and welcome to the studio! I'm Karissa- a photographer, mom, and memory collector. I sincerely believe photography is one of the most powerful ways we can capture what is important in our lives- and, because of that, our photographs become some of our most treasured possessions.
There are many photographers in the area, each with his or her own style. For myself, I hope my work stands out due to the natural beauty, authentic emotion, and personalities you see in my portraits. If you feel like you know the person a little better because of the photograph, then I have done my job. Thank you for stopping by!
I've had the great fortune to be able to spend a fair amount of time traveling, and am always amazed by the beauty in the world around me-- I try to capture a bit of it wherever I go. I spent this past year in Paris, absorbing the City of Lights through my eyes- and my lens, and exploring several new portrait styles.
I've always been incredibly curious. I love learning, getting to know new people and discovering something new! It's my curiosity about people that makes for fun and engaging photo sessions- and my curiosity of learning that continues pushing me to try new styles in photography.
At the heart of it all is my own family; I am married with three kids. As a mom, I want desperately for my own kids to feel connected to their past, as well as for us all to cherish the moments we are living right now. I take pictures of my own family, but also schedule an annual family photo shoot for that specific reason.
I love good food & wine... and the experiences that generally go with them (family & friends, beautiful locations, etc.). In fact, whenever I describe my work to people, I almost always correlate it back food! :) Don't believe me? Check out the info page and you'll see what I mean!
