When people walk into my studio, they often have an idea of what to expect- sitting in front of my camera, looking into the lens, and smiling. It is my sincere pleasure to show them that there is incredible beauty in the authenticity of an expression, of a moment, and it doesn’t necessarily mean smiling. I recently had a woman walk in for her session having the worst possible day. She broke into tears shortly after arriving as she told me what was going on… that was her “real” at that moment. We started the session from that point- from the sadness and brokenness she was feeling- and the images were beautiful. As the session continued, she relaxed and started having fun and we went on to capture other beautiful expressions- her laughter, her confidence, her femininity, and her strength.

A couple weeks later I had the opportunity to photograph a young woman, Ellen, in the studio. As with all Signature Sessions, we decided on a variety of looks that would each highlight something different in her- from sweet and fun to feminine to thoughtful- the resulting photographs are beautiful and show many different sides of this beautiful soul.

Regardless of where you are in your story right now- whether you are elated or broken- there is beauty in all it. Finding that authenticity and capturing it for you is what Signature Sessions are all about.
