Families sometimes joke that they don’t want to photograph the chaos and commotion behind the scenes, much preferring to remember the moments of fun and togetherness instead. I have a family- I completely understand. The fun and togetherness of this photo session, however, was completely eclipsed by the chaos during this photo shoot, as SWAT teams surrounded the area and reports of a gunman on Yale‘s campus were reported! We literally ran for cover right after this first picture when officers jumped out of patrol cars and grabbed large assault rifles from their vehicles. Doesn’t everyone look so calm?! Our one hour photo shoot turned into an all-day event as we spent the next hours stuck in an apartment on lock down with ATF and the FBI out front, watching on CNN as the scene unfolded. It is a session I won’t forget! (Update: In the end, it was a false alarm. There was not a gunman on campus…).
